“52 HERTZ premiered as a collaboration between Anna Kirstine Linke (text and direction), Anna Gohmert (stage) and Eneas Nikolai Prawdzic (dramaturgy) on the 30th of April 2020 at Neumarkt in Zurich. While the lockdown led to the closure of theatres, 52 HERTZ made it possible to experience theatre at home. 52 HERTZ is a "mail piece". You receive a letter from the theatre, which you then open in your kitchen at home, at the same time as 29 other people who have also received mail for the same day as you. The other 29 people are also at each other's homes. The letter then turns each home into a theatre. Hence the name of the genre "Home Theatre".
Director Anna Kirstine Linke talked about the production 52 HERTZ in a podcast.
The play was invited to the 2021 "6 tage frei" festival in Stuttgart. The biennial festival offers the audience the opportunity to get an overview of the most outstanding productions in Baden-Württemberg of the last two years. A supra-regional jury of six experts will select ten productions. Their selection presents the aesthetic diversity of contemporary performing arts, introduces performative models that sometimes disrupt and renegotiate the relationship between audience and actors, between artistic disciplines, art and society.
52 HERTZ was also invited to "HAUPTSACHE FREI". "HAUPTSACHE FREI" is the festival of Hamburg's independent performing arts. Founded in 2015, the festival provides a platform for the artists of Hamburg's independent scene year after year and invites professionals from all over the German-speaking world to Hamburg for exchange and networking.
